The Prep Course teaches the practical programming and software foundations expected when applying to the Starters Academy. It is remote, hands-on and paced over several weeks.

New learning units arrive regularly, with exercises, instructors to ask for help and a final project that puts the pieces together.

Who is the Prep Course for?

It is designed for people without prior programming experience who want the foundations needed for the Starters Academy.

What topics are covered?

Python programming, NumPy, basic linear algebra, the Unix command line, Git, text editors, Python modules, packaging and a final project.

How much does it cost?

The Prep Course is free.

How much time should I reserve?

Beginners should plan for at least 10 hours each week. Learners who already know some topics may need less time.

Does completion guarantee a Starters Academy place?

No. It prepares you for the admission process and improves your foundations, but does not guarantee admission.

Is special software required?

Yes. Setup instructions are provided, and you need a computer on which you can install software.

Will I receive a certificate?

The current public course information does not promise a certificate. The focus is on practical knowledge and preparation.
